Become a Notary in Missouri
To become a notary public in Missouri, applicants must be at least 18 years old; read and write English; be a registered voter of the county where they will work; and complete an approved notary training course. All attorneys licensed to practice in Missouri are also notaries. Anyone whose commission as a notary has been revoked within the past 10 years is not eligible. Louis, MO 63101; 615 E. 13th St., Ste. 513, Kansas City, MO 64106; and 149 Park Central, Rm. 624, Springfield, MO 65806. The application and re-application forms prescribed by the secretary of state must be used.
Applicants have to declare if they have been convicted of or pled guilty or no contest to any felony or misdemeanor. Notaries serve a four-year term in Missouri. Prospective notaries must pay $25 to receive their commission. They must also purchase a $10,000 notary bond within 90 days of submitting their application to the state.
