Become a Notary in Colorado
To become a notary public in the State of Colorado, an individual must:
- Be a resident of Colorado;
- Be at least 18 years old;
- Be able to read and write the English language;
- Be familiar with the Colorado notary law;
- Not have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving dishonesty during the last five years;
- Not have been convicted of a felony in your lifetime;
- Not have had a notary commission revoked;
- Carefully read the Notaries Public Act, Colorado Revised Statutes, Parts I and II;
- Submit proof of attendance at Approved Training and proof of passing the State of Colorado Online Notary Testing with the Application for Notary Public Commission and copy of acceptable ID.

Notary Stamps & Seals
The name on your Colorado notary stamp or notary seal
must exactly match your name on the notary certificate including any middle initials if applicable. The notary is responsible for using a seal that is compliant with the law. A notary's commission expiration date is not required to be on the stamp/seal. Notarys may hand-write their commission expiration date in their notarizations or order a separate stamp for the date. If a commission expiration date appears on your stamp/seal, it must be outside of the outline of your notary stamp/seal.
